Procedures

Procedural skills are an integral component of Family Practice. Because the scope of procedures you incorporate into your practice will depend on a variety of factors (training requirements, personal preference, patient demand, reimbursement) we don’t expect you to master them all. However there are core procedures (listed below with an asterisk) we deem crucial to successful completion of your residency, and a broader set of skills you’ll want training in just to be able to help in your decision-making. You’ll be expected to document your training for all procedures you perform using New Innovations.

You must become credentialled in a required set of procedures (listed below). Most residents achieve additional credential

Procedures that all residents must learn before they graduate:

1. Suture Removal

2. Skin Excisional Biopsy

3. Pap Smear

4. Laceration Simple

5. Joint Injection

6. Joint Aspiration

7. EKG Interpretation

8. Vaginal Delivery (including total/continuity and ALSO)
